About Andrew Park
Andrew Park is a graduate from Virginia Tech (class of 2021) and majored in Sports Media and Analytics with a Cinema minor. Park started working with HokieVision and Virginia Tech athletics as a student production assistant in 2019, primarily running cameras, replay, and audio for broadcasts. As a student he was given the opportunity to produce multiple shows for the ACCNX including women’s soccer and women’s basketball. After graduation he worked as a morning news producer at a local news station in Roanoke, Virginia. At this time, Park was continuing to work as a freelancer with HokieVision, spending his weekdays at the news station and his nights and weekends working on Virginia Tech sports productions for ESPN and the ACC Network.
After 2 years working in local news, Park decided it was time for a change and left his producer job. He applied and ended up securing an assistant director role with HokieVision at Virginia Tech. Since then, he has expanded his production skills, becoming a self-taught technical director and getting more opportunities to direct full shows on the ACC Network Xtra. While working as the primary TD and secondary director he has also taken the lead on creating a team to make feature stories to use for both Network shows and for social media / website posts. With his new role he’s also taken a lead on training many students to be able to jump into broadcast positions and run them independently for varying show levels.
