About Alessandro Reitano

Alessandro Reitano joined Sky Deutschland in 2008 and took overall responsibility for sports production in 2015 and continental production operations in 2021.

Reitano is one of the main driving forces behind the development of new workflows and innovations in the field of sports production.

The first Sky 3D sports production started in 2010, followed by the first UHD test recording in 2012 and the implementation of UHD-HDR in 2020.

In 2015, Reitano brought the innovative Intel Free-D technology to Germany, which was used in the DFB Cup Final and the UEFA Champions League Final in 2015.

He was also responsible for the first VR live test, which was successfully implemented at the DFB Cup final in 2016 and in the first multi camera E2E 5G broadcast and 5G slicing testing in 2020/2021.

From the idea to its completion in July 2017, Reitano led the construction of the new Sky Sport HQ broadcasting center in Unterföhring near Munich, which sets new standards in studio technology and efficient and effective production processes.

In addition to his role as senior vice president of continental production operations, he has also acted as chairman of the Sports Video Group Europe (SVG Europe) since May 2019.

What are 3 things you’re passionate about?: Sports have always been my passion, which is why I chose to work in this industry. If I weren’t here, you’d probably find me as a jazz musician—that’s my second love after being a total sports maniac. Beyond that, I thrive on working with people. This industry is all about collaboration, and for me, teamwork truly makes the dream work.
