5G is changing the game in live sports - and Sony’s ultra-low latency streaming is leading the charge. Join Martin Lindsay (Sony), Greg Coppa (CBS Sports), and Craig Stevens (CBS Sports) as they reveal how this technology delivered lightning-fast, immersive coverage at major golf tournaments, enhancing live broadcasts from even the most remote locations and pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in sports production.

We’ll dive into the trucks that the PGA TOUR relies on week in and week out, discuss their workflows, learn about Every Shot Live, and much more.
PGA TOUR events are a perfect example of how the world of production is changing as more than ever it’s about using data to drive graphics and other elements that enhance the storytelling and give the fans greater insight. The PGA TOUR and other leagues and broadcasters discuss a future where data is as important as pixels.
This case study will highlight how the PGA TOUR and their partner ecosystem leverage the flexibility and density of the Appear X platform across IP Networks, ASI, and satellite mediums for remote production of the Champions Tour and contribution delivery workflows to domestic and international partners for all PGA tour live events.
The PGA TOUR utilizes the full gamut of tools within the X Platform. In tandem with technology partners NEP and PSSI, the facilities and trucks feature a mix of ST2110 and SDI hand offs, HEVC and JPEG XS Codecs for Contribution over IP Networks, utilizing TSoIP, SRT, and ASI / Satellite where appropriate. Workflows include live feed contribution into PGAs cloud production infrastructure as well as content delivery to multiple distribution partners.
Advanced monitoring is driven by X Platform’s Prometheus Metrics, giving visibility across the ecosystem from source signal to contribution network health.

The cloud and virtualized hardware are no longer about tomorrow but delivering improvements to productions today. Learn how the PGA TOUR is taking advantage of these technologies to improve their productions and also hear from leaders in Cloud and virtualized hardware to learn about the latest developments and trends.
In this session you’ll hear how the PGA TOUR broadcasts every shot from every player in the tournament to fans around the world. From live streaming to VOD clips, to Speed Round compilations compiled from the over 32k golf shots taken throughout the tournament.
